Menarini and the Maggio Musicale together in new social project

Menarini GroupMaggio Musicale Fiorentino

New social project to allow young people and disadvantaged individuals experience the world of opera has been launched

Menarini is ready for the opening night. Florence-based Pharmaceutical Group Menarini, has become a private member of the Maggio Musicale: one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in Florence. The Maggio opera house and its festival, amongst the oldest and most celebrated in Europe, has been attracting internationally renowned composers and artists for decades. With the support of Menarini, the opera will now also take on a social role. The aim is to support this artistic institution, renowned and respected worldwide, allowing both young adults and less fortunate Florentine citizens experience the world of opera and ballet.

To this end, Menarini has purchased 1,000 tickets to the Maggio Musicale which will be offered to people in economic difficulty, including the families living in the forty public housing units renovated by Menarini, as well as the associations that the Group has always supported, such as the Volpi Rossi Menarini wheelchair-basketball team, the PITA association (for children and adolescents affected by autism or multiple disabilities) and the Tommasino Bacciotti Foundation. The children of Menarini employees aged between 14 and 21 shall also have the chance to receive tickets to the theatre – both for themselves and an accompanying friend. Given the company’s international breadth, leading members of the pharmaceutical company from all over the world may also have the chance to enjoy an evening at the Maggio Musicale theatre.

Cristiano Chiarot stated: “Having Menarini as one of our private members means we can expect a different level of involvement compared to traditional sponsors. In their case we can count on economic support with added value: offering a great number of people the opportunity to come and enjoy an evening at the Maggio and who, for a number of different reasons, may not otherwise have the opportunity to do so”. The Maggio is perfectly in line with Menarini’s vision of social utility and ‘cultural conscience’, targeting a wider audience, with particular focus on young people. We found that we were immediately in tune with the company, establishing a very positive dialogue, for which I would like to offer heartfelt thanks to Lucia and Alberto Giovanni Aleotti”.

“We would like to thank the Director of the Maggio Musicale, Cristiano Chiarot, for giving us the opportunity to go beyond the role of traditional sponsor. Supporting a Florentine institution, an example of excellence worldwide, and sharing this opportunity with those who are less fortunate or in economic difficulty, is very much in line with the DNA of Menarini” commented Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Menarini Group, Lucia and Alberto Giovanni Aleotti.
